Louis Buller "Louie" Gohmert, Jr. (born August 18, 1953) is a current Republican U.S. Representative from Texas's First Congressional District. On January 4, 2015, Gohmert announced he would challenge John Boehner for the position of Speaker of the House of Representatives. He was defeated in the challenge by Boehner two days later, on January 6, 2015. ==Early life and education== Gohmert was born in Pittsburg, Texas, the son of Erma Sue (née Brooks) and Louis Buller Gohmert.
